The African Drone & Data Academy (ADDA) – Drones for Good

Drones have the potential to save lives, particularly in remote areas of southeast Africa that are frequently affected by natural disasters. That's why UNICEF and its partners are leveraging drone technology for humanitarian purposes. Integrating drones not only facilitates the delivery of critical supplies to remote regions, but drone-generated aerial imagery can also aid in combating malaria by identifying mosquito breeding sites and contribute to cholera prevention by analyzing flooded areas.

In 2020, UNICEF launched the African Drone and Data Academy (ADDA) to train specialized personnel for humanitarian drone operations while simultaneously empowering young people across Africa. Students from various African countries, predominantly women, gain comprehensive skills in drone manufacturing, piloting, and entrepreneurship. Investing in the training of young individuals not only transforms their lives but also brings significant benefits to the entire community!
